Artist and Gallery Owner
Erin Jeffrey
Erin is the owner and sole artist of the gallerie maison rouge
She was born in Charlottetown, PEI and left when she was six years old, but returned every summer since then! She finally moved back in the spring of 2005 and she is here to stay!
Erin is a self taught artist and paints big, brightly coloured paintings from a different perspective than you will find in the paintings of other islanders.
She loves Prince Edward Island so she draws inspiration from its beautiful landscapes, boats and flowers and she is quite happy to paint in her little red house studio and gallery and welcomes anyone to visit and view her work.
A little more about Erin...
Erin has a Bachelor of Arts in French and Business from Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She studied there from 1997-2002 and spent her third year studying French in Angers, France and travelling Europe.
She then travelled to Asia and spent a year in Korea teaching English. She also spent some time in Thailand and fell in love with it!
She then returned home to Halifax, Nova Scotia and took some short design courses at the Nova Scotia College or Art and Design but decided to continue travelling...
She spent the next 6 months in Cuautla, Mexico where she taught English and travelled during her spare time, spending a lot of time in Acapulco!
After experiencing such a wonderful culture that valued family so much, she thought it was finally time to come home to PEI and live close to her family.
She painted for several galleries around Charlottetown for her first year and bought some land on the North Shore that she loves so much and planned to build there until she stumbled across a little red house in town and fell in love with it...it quickly became her very own "gallerie maison rouge"....where she is free to paint everything she loves out of her own little home on Prince Edward Island!
